Ahmed Mohammed Hamid Al-Tijani,chairman of the Legislation and Justice Committee of the National Assembly described the approval of the Constitutional Amendments in the General Features Stage as a "big step" towards the implementation of the National Dialogue outcomes.
The National Legislature has approved by overwhelming majority the report of the emergency committee for constitutional amendments at the stage of general features .
The First Vice-President of the Republic,Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Saleh called for adopting the national dialogue as an integral part of Sudanese culture,and for handling cultural issues on the basis of science,knowledge and prioritization.
Senior leaders in the Popular Congress Party (PCP) confirmed Saturday their adherence to the national dialogue and showed unwillingness to assume posts.
In addition, the leading figures of the party affirmed their support to reform through inclusive program,adding that their participation the government of national reconciliation is conditional on implementation of the outcomes of the National Dialogue and the enforcement of public freedoms.
The Coordinative Mechanism of national dialogue welcomed the visit of the Chairman of the African high-level mechanism, Thabo Mbeki in the country to push forward the negotiations,announcing start of arrangements for formation of mechanisms for follow-up of the implementation of dialogue outputs after endorsement of the amendments by the legislative assembly.
The government delegation for the negotiations on the two regions and Darfur confirmed its willingness to negotiate if the movements renounce their intransigent positions.
Meanwhile,the President of the African high-level mechanism,Thabo Mbeki met with opposition inside the country.
The Council of Arab and European Ministers of foreign affairs welcomed in its final declaration,on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo,the initiative of the Sudanese national dialogue and its outputs, and called for the development of these outputs on the table of Parliament in preparation for a permanent constitution for the country.
The Council expressed its support to efforts of United Nations in Sudan and in Africa and its support to reviewing effectiveness of the joint peacekeeping forces "UNAMID" there.
The government renewed its commitment and its seriousness to achieve peace in the two regions (Blue Nile and South Kordofan) and Darfur.
Following his meeting with President Thabo Mbeki,head of the African mechanism of high-level in Corinthia Hotel in Khartoum, Engineer Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid,Assistant President of the Republic said the meeting was held in the context of continuous consultation between the hilg-level mechanism and the Sudan to achieve peace.
The head of the Arab Parliament, Dr. Meshaal Al-Salmi confirmed parliament support to the results of the Sudanese national dialogue, which lasted for more than a year, and concluded by the signing of a national document by parties and factions, so as to achieve peace,stressing that the experience of national dialogue in Sudan represents a model to follow.
Lt.Gen .Engineer Abdel Rahim Mohamed Hussein, Wali (governor) of Khartoum said the anniversary of Independence came at a moment where our country is unified by the national document,which achieved by people of Sudan,noting that the Sudanese people had suffered from war.
