A delegation including 19 officials from the European Union (EU) has arrived in Khartoum within framework of effort aiming to push forward discussions with Sudan government
and civil society organizations and political parties,about a package of files .
The delegation held talks on Monday,with Sudanese businessmen, and civil society organizations,women's leaders as well as human rights defenders and political parties .
The delegation will engage in consultation with the government starting on Tuesday,and will hold session at the Foreign Ministry in the presence of its minister Ibrahim Ghandour.
In a short press release to Sudan Tribune,Sudan’s foreign ministry spokesperson,Gharib Allah Khidir,said the consultations take place within the framework of the European Sudanese strategic dialogue which cover a set of bilateral and regional issues of common concern.
The upcoming talks focused on several issues including the situation in South Sudan, delivery of humanitarian aid to war areas as well as the political, development and human rights files.
Meanwhile,the EU Special Envoy for Religious Freedom,Jan Figel will arrive in Khartoum on Wednesday . He is considered the third european official who arrives in Sudan in a few months,after the previous visit of coordinator of the European Union,which was followed by the arrival of a senior delegation from the European Parliament who ended recently consultations in Khartoum .
Since February last year, Sudan and the European Union began most important talks in the wake of a long period of estrangement and tension, where the Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour has held talks in Brussels with the High Commissioner for Foreign policy and Security in EU,Federica Mogherini,the special Commissioner for terrorism the EU Special Envoy and with Director for the African administration as well .
